FAQs
Choosing a nursery for your child can be a daunting prospect. Putting their care into someone else’s hands requires you to be completely sure you’ve made the right decision.
Our aim is quite simple: to give you the confidence to go to work, reassured that
the best people are supporting you and your child in the best environment possible.
Here we’ve tried to answer many of the questions you may have – and some you might
not have thought of. If there is anything else you would like to know about
our nursery then please get in touch with us.
What age do you take children from?
We have children from 6 months to 5 years.
Can children start at any age?
In theory, yes. In practice though the places at the Pre-School Nursery are generally filled by babies who have been at our baby nursery and are turning 2.
Do you offer half days?
No, we only offer full days. Some of our children attend for shorter hours, but the free structure is based on 8am to 6pm.
If my child gets a place at the Baby Nursery, will they automatically get a place at the Pre-School nursery when they are old enough?
We can’t guarantee this but children at the Baby Nursery have first priority for places at the Pre-School Nursery.
How do I sign up for The Pelican Nursery?
If you contact us we can arrange for you to come and see the nursery. A show round needs to be booked in advance and the best times are usually around 10am or 3pm so they don’t interrupt the childrens’ schedule.
Do you have a waiting list?
Yes. If you wish to go on the waiting list for a place, we have a registration form that you'll need to fill out. There is a £50 registration fee refundable if we cannot offer you a place.
What qualifications do your staff have?
Staff qualifications range from Qualified Teacher Status, Early Years Professional Status and Montessori Teacher to the more caring based qualifications. Our main bulk of staff have a NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and we have some staff studying for their level 3.
Have you been inspected by Ofsted?
Yes. Our last inspections were in July 2018 at the baby nursery a July 2023 at the pre-school.
How much does it cost?
You can see all of our fees here.
Do you have any outdoor space on site?
Yes we have enclosed playgrounds at both nurseries and children have the opportunity to go outdoors every day.
